The development and production company for relay calculators, Casio Computer Co. was started in 1957 but quickly branched out from calculators. Casio’s first watches featured shock and vibration resistance while still keeping time in hard conditions. Five layers of protection were put in place making them water-resistant and able to take a beating. It was the skateboarding community that popularized Casio’s G-SHOCK line in the 1990s. Casio continued to develop different styles within the G-SHOCK line including full metal watches.
