Oris is a Swiss watchmaker that was founded in 1904 by Paul Cattin and Georges Christian. Oris had rather rapid growth in its’ initial years and hired over 300 workers after only 2 years. Oris was hit incredibly hard by the quartz crisis in the 70s through the 80s and at one point had less than a few dozen employees and ceased production of in-house movements in 1981. Oris was on the brink of closure and eventually had to give up its independence and sell to ASUAG. Oris slowly worked its way back up and had recent developments such as a mechanical depth gauge.
